Good morning Vancouver,
Today's episode was very special, because it was host Vivienne's last show of IntraVenus :(
That's why Vivienne decided to host a very special last show with a very special guest : Kylie Vincent.
Kylie Vincent is a comedian, an actor and a writer. She is coming to Vancouver with her new Solo show "Bird" to perform for one week at the historic theater "The Cultch".
On Speak Up! Kylie opens up about her past, her future and her experince with traveling across the US for eight months long and living in a self-built SUV with her disabled dog. She also gave us an insight into her new show "Bird", how she came up with the idea of creating such a show and how comedy changed her and her life.
Additionally, Vivienne not only did an interview with Kylie but saw her opening show at "The Cultch", too. "Bird" is a very funny but serious comedy show where Kylie speaks up about her traumatic childhood, her dating life and how it feels to be a female-identifying person in the 20th century. It made Vivienne lough and think at the same time, because Kylie manage to hold the split between talking about rape, abuse and trauma while making the people lough. A good mix between humor and serious issues!
If you are interested now, you can buy tickets on the cultch website here. Go check her out to laugh, to think and to find out why all men are monkeys.

Today is National Aboriginal Day and we have a very special guest in studio. Maddi is a part of the Blackfoot Confederacy and is currently studying Gender Studies and Communications. She is very active in advocating for Indigenous Voices. She holds close to her heart issues such as Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, Two Spirited Indigenous People, and Indigenous Feminism. She is co-creator and publisher of a Zine called I AM Indigenous Alternative Media, to raise awareness to these issues since they are hardly recognized. She also has set goals of creating documentaries in the future that are directed towards these issues as well as other issues that intersect with the BIPOC communities to raise awareness.

This week on IntraVenus we interviewed Reema Faris. Reema is a PhD student in the department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at Simon Fraser University, where she studies the relevance of (mis)conceptions of feminism as they operate in popular culture. Her question is “whether the consumer-celebrity foundation of North American popular culture has rendered the concept of feminism obsolete even though the need to advocate for social justice has not abated.”
Make sure to follow her twitter @rmfarrisSFU
